The 14th-century building that is home to the museum was once home to the Almoner of the Benedictine Abbey which was founded in Evesham in the 8th century. Today the Almonry, two churches, a bell tower and a cloister arch are all that remain of what was reportedly the third-largest abbey in England.

The museum houses an eclectic collection of items from prehistoric times to the 20th century. There are two floors of exhibitions plus a garden. Exhibitions include ones about the Abbey, the battle of Evesham in 1265, horticulture in the area, Archaeology, fossils and a Victorian school room. They also host a programme of events, each year including children’s workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions.
